Title IX Clery Act Yes Means Yes
Title IX prohibits sex discrimination in education, covering all students and staff in any educational institution/program that receives federal funds.

Sexual harassment and sexual assault are forms of discrimination covered under this law.

It requires schools to promptly and impartially investigate complaints and take the necessary steps to protect individuals.
A law that interesects with Title IX, the Clery Act requires colleges and universities to:
  • disclose crime statistics for incidents that occur on campus.
  • establish an emergency response, notification, and testing policy.
The Clery Act includes Campus Sexual Assault Victims' Bill of Rights, in which schools are required to:
  • Inform survivors of couseling resources.
  • Notify students of options to report cases to the school or to law enforcement.
  • Publish a public annual security report to employees an students every October 1st.
  • Provide academic and living accomodations that are suitable for the survivor.
The nation's first affirmative consent signed by the California governor in 2014, the "Yes Means Yes" law establishes that
  • consent is a voluntary, affirmative, conscious agreement to engage in sexual activity.
  • consent can be revoked at any time.
  • a previous relationship does not constitute consent.
  • that threat of force cannot be used to establish consent.
It enables colleges and universities to hold perpetrators accountable who assaulted individuals who were asleep or incapacitated by alcohol or drugs.

Unfortunately, not all schools and states currently enforce this law. Check with your school to obtain more information.
